Moms for Modesty

I saw this on a friends blog and thought it was worth passing on.
Moms for Modesty is a mission statement for mothers to dress their daughters modesty and to buy clothes from retailers that sell modest clothing. This is a very good thing, calling moms to make a commitment to buy clothing for their children that is God honoring.

Moms for Modesty Mission Statement

* As a Mom for Modesty I believe in common-sense modesty for girls and young women.
* I believe in refraining from sexualizing
our girls and young women.
* I believe that it is unwise and unfair
to taunt boys and young men by permitting
my daughter(s) to dress in an immodest manner.
* I believe that true beauty comes from within and I strive to teach my daughter(s) this truth.
* I will loyally shop at retailers that provide girls' and young womens clothing
that is modest, affordable and stylish.

Retailers that provide these clothes according to this site are:
Lands' End
Gymboree
Old Navy

I say, you can find modest clothes at the Targets, WalMarts and Second Hand Shops, not just the higher priced retailers suggested at this site.

The big question is: What is modest?
Modest is presenting yourself in a God honering way. Your dress, your attitude...ect. I believe that modesty is not just a word for women. Men also need to be modest. In the area of dress as well as presintation.
Leave your comments please! How would you define modesty? :)

Here are some sites that specialize in modest clothing:

This is a great question. What is modisty? Can it be defined and acepted by others? I think that a girls shorts should come down close to the knees, past her ifngers. A shirt should not have a V-neck or be too lose that when she bends over you can see down or too low that when she is upright you can see clevage. Skirts should be long, period. Dresses should be long, period. And I love the link for a swim suit. I going to get these for our family, Swim suits are just the same as underwear that you buy at the store. Why is it ok to wear swim underwear in public but not your cotten underwear? Is this a bit much for my first comment on your blog? :)
