Vertical Blast: the other kids

Our other children were not yet old enough to join in on the big kid fun. They stayed in the nursery and had their own fun.

One day Joshua let Caleb hang out with him for awhile. As you can see, we may have a future audio engineer on our hands. :)

Vertical Blast: Mom and Dad

This year Joshua was asked to run the sound, so we were not able to work together as we did last year. Here he is doing his thing.

And I'm doing my thing. I had a group of 4yr old girls. (An age I know well.) Here we are heading to our rotations.

First up, bounce houses. I got in them too. Not as easy as it use to be! I even got a "slide burn." Ouch. But the girls loved it and I think it allowed for some real bonding time, getting on their level.

I didn't get pictures of the other activities, but the one I enjoyed the most was craft time. We had our craft rotation last and that gave us time to talk about all we learned that morning. I was able to tie in the different stories taught with the craft we were making and ask them questions. I truly loved it. Great times!

Vertical Blast: Hannah

It's summer and time for VBS. Or an equivalent to... :) Cross Timbers had their version and we had a blast! A Vertical Blast! This is all about Hannah's time.

Here she is with her class going to the rotations.

It's the "creative cabana." Hannah loves making crafts. She was able to bring the bucket home with her weeks crafts today and she has enjoyed talking all about what she made and the meaning behind each craft.

"Under the Wave" story time. Here they were talking about how the Holy Spirit fills us is similar to the way our breath fills a balloon. The balloon wasn't of much use to us until we filled it... I think it was a bit over Hannah's head, but she loved the balloon. :)

The "Party pier." Bounce houses for fun and snack time. Hannah truly had a blast during this time.

Hannah had a great time. On the last day I gave her a T-Shirt and that just topped the cake. I am so thankful for events like this.

Laugh?

Do you like comedies? Do you like to laugh? Me too.
I watched a DVD with Christian comedians, Thou Shalt Laugh, the other night. It was pretty good.

In the mist of the funniness there was a thought provoking statement by comedian Jeff Allen:

"Teenagers are God's revenge on mankind. It's as if God himself looked down and said, 'Hey, lets see how they like it, to create someone in their own image who denies their existence.' "

Think about it... Were you that way as a teen? Do you have teens? Do you want your teens to reflect that statement? Ummm.......

(Some other comedians on the DVD I enjoyed: Thor Ramsey, Michael Jr., Joby Saad, and Taylor Mason )
